Cynthia Mare

Cynthia Mare’s story began in Zimbabwe, where she was born and grew up with a dream of being a singer. Aged 16 she moved to the UK to study and that is where she began her musical journey as an R&B singer. Later on, deciding to make music that reflected her origins and experiences, Cynthia changed her music to an African sound, with influences of Jazz and Gospel. She also incorporated traditional Zimbabwean sounds of guitar and mbira

Past releases include “Catch me whenI fall” in 2010, for which Cynthia Mare attained several awards in the UK including a BEFFTA Award in 2011 and two ZimAchievers Awards. Collaborations include “Catch me when I fall remix” with Nigeria’s General Pype,“Born Champion” with Winky D, Jusa, BKay& Kazz, “We are Africans” with Nigerian producer JJC, “Going In” with UK rappers Scorcher and Young Don. In 2013 She was a mentor on Zimbabwe’s own version of X-Factor, StarBrite, and by the end of the show she was the winning mentor with her artist being the 2013 Starbrite winner!
